WebMy mother is Irish. When i was born 35 years ago i got an Dutch and Irish passport. I still have the old Irish passport, but only renewed my Dutch passport. A few years ago the Dutch law changed and it was not allowed to have dual nationaly anymore. Still, it would be handy to have 2 passports, i tend to lose a lot of stuff.... WebThere are some words that are shared across Irish and Dutch, like aon/een for one, coinín/konijn for rabbit and words where they may have started the same but have gone down different paths such as éan/eend for bird/duck. I don’t know for certain why this is, but my best guess is that the connection is through English.
