Great move vs brilliant move
WebI believe a great move is the only good move in a position (the only way to gain or maintain an advantage). It doesn’t necessarily need to sacrifice anything or be a beautiful move. Eg. in some games I was completely losing and close to getting checkmated, but because I found the only king move that prevents forced mate it was considered great.
