Built in 1923, the building was once the flagship department store for the Alabama-based, family-owned department store chain Pizitz. Closed in 1988, the building was restored and redeveloped for $70 million beginning in 2014 by Bayer Properties. The building reopened in 2016 after 24-months of work.
